I stand corrected, or rather deceived like the rest. Since the previous post I have witnessed a speech by Flash Gordon himself citing the ridership growth & conveniently omitting revenue growth/shrinkage (or even, more importantly, net cash flow -- which is cleverly never reported by gov't about its own activities or only fudged in reports). I also heard a Jersey UFC trainer in my new Census job mention how he liked our light rail & the fact that he (like everybody else, he said) knows not to bother buying a ticket because you just have to get off whenever you see the conductor coming.
If riders can game the system like this, it's got to be a major money pit ... which we're all to eager to dig deeper w/ the PHX Sky Train project & new branches in Valley suburbs. How wisely we spend OPM because we're addicted. I guess the commoners are just as much politicians as the oligarchs themselves. What tangled webs we weave to ensnare ourselves.
